CLAC in a Nutshell

Abstract

The opening plenary will begin with a broad definition of CLAC and a brief history of its origins in postsecondary education, and will then offer an overview of the characteristics common to most contemporary CLAC programs. The plenary will also provide a summary of the main CLAC models in practice, along with specific examples from institutions across the U.S.



photo hereTanya Kinsellaserves as Undergraduate Academic Coordinator of the Center for European Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill, overseeing the Languages Across the Curriculum (LAC) Program and an undergraduate major in Contemporary European Studies. She offers annual LAC pedagogy workshops, teaches a graduate-level course on Teaching LAC, and supervises the Graduate Certificate in Languages Across the Curriculum instruction. She holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in German Language and Literature.
